One Came Home by Amy Timberlake

In 1871 Wisconsin, thirteen-year-old Georgia sets out to find her sister Agatha, presumed dead when remains are found wearing the dress she was last seen in, and before the end of the year gains fame as a sharpshooter and foiler of counterfeiters. (http://www.deschuteslibrary.org)

  1. Historical fiction is really one of my favorite genres and I liked that this was set in the 1800s. The backdrop of the pigeon hunting and pigeoners was kind of strange, but I enjoyed the story. The main character, Georgie, had plenty of pluck and she was fun to get to know. It was pretty predictable, but still fun.
