Beholding Bee by Kimberly Newton Fusco

In 1942, when life turns sour at the carnival that has always been her home, eleven-year-old Bee takes her dog, Peabody, and piglet, Cordelia, and sets out to find a real home, aided by two women only Bee and her pets can see.  (from www.deschuteslibrary.org)

  1. I could not put this book down! Cordelia has something to teach us all . . . the power of self-reliance and resilience were themes that just kept rising up through the story. Cordelia's plight also reminded me that we all have something that we're insecure about and it's really how we rise above it that matters in the end. Ms. Walsh
